Metamora, Indiana is a small-town rich in history of the 19th and 20th centuries that give you a glimpse of what life was like back then and how things have changed to make our lives easier through modern day transportation technology. Riding a bike around town and on the Whitewater Canal Trail is one of the best ways to see some of the historic infrastructure besides taking in some great scenery and views around the Whitewater Canal and Whitewater River that put Metamora, Indiana on the map in 1838.

The Whitewater Canal Trail is built with mostly a hard packed fine gravel surface and is currently approximately 12 miles long with steady construction progress past the Yellow Bank Trailhead towards Brookville, Indiana. The Laurel Feeder Dam that feeds the water to the Whitewater Canal from the Whitewater River is accessible by a county maintained gravel road. The entire Trail usually takes between 2.5 - 3 hours to complete depending on stops with most riders completing their rides in 3 hours. Tours are done at a leisurely pace for the purpose of sight seeing wildlife, historic canal architecture, and the beautiful scenery with multiple breaks that make tours possible for most anyone interested. some parts of the trail remain unrefined and for that reason we do require riders have some bike experience and to wear a helmet.
